CIKM 2008

CIKM (Conference on Information and Knowledge Management )will be hosting its 2008 event at the Napa Valley Marriot Hotel and Spa resort located in one of the most scenic and renown wine counties in the state of California. The Napa Valley Marriot Hotel & Spa is located at 3425 Solano Avenue, Napa, CA 94558.

CIKM has been in inception since 1992 and has played a pivotal part in garnering the most important leading research specialists in the field of information and knowledge management. The conference brings together numerous touch points from database engineers to developers working on new algorithms for retrieval of database management. The primal objective of the conference is to highlight the ongoing challenges and problems being faced by systems and teams that are dedicated to the uplift of knowledge based information systems. The driving force behind the conference is to hone and shape the future by research and positive direction. CIKM 2008, like many other annual conference events, will continue the tradition of promoting collaboration among multiple areas. We encourage submissions of high quality papers on all topics in the general areas of databases, information retrieval, and knowledge management. Papers that bridge across these areas are of special interest and will be considered for a "Best Interdisciplinary Paper" award. Several of these honored and prestigious awards have been given to researchers, students and professionals through-out the years.

CIKM 2008 is behind held in the wine country of California for a particular reason. The agenda of having this CIKM conference near San Francisco is to embrace the innovative spirit of the Bay Area/Silicon Valley in bridging further the academic-commercial gap in the database, information retrieval, and knowledge management communities. To help achieve this goal, we will have a series of invited speakers and an industry day (separate from the industry research track) where luminaries, primarily from industry and from the VC (Venture Capital) community, will provide insights on how DB/IR/KM technologies are/can be leveraged to make a billion-dollar success.
